Whoever said Perth was slow clearly didn't check up on the BJJ scene here. If you've been following my last couple of posts, you'll know that I've been here for the past week visiting my folks and getting in some training while I'm at it!
A couple of nights ago I popped into Goioerê BJJ (you can read about it
here), and while I was packing up to go at the end of training, the guys casually remarked that Leo Arruda was going to swing by on Friday 'if I was interested'. Considering the dude just won the -74kg Abu Dhabi Australian Trials, it was a no-brainer.
So I rocked up to Goioerê BJJ again tonight, and was stoked to meet a girl new to jiu jitsu that I could train with! We went through some bottom half guard concepts, and for the second night in a row, I was blown away at the details you can learn, this time for a basic sweep. This particular sweep, I was fortunate enough to learn from Rafael 'Gordinho' Correa last October, brother of the half guard master Roberto 'Gordo' Correa - but even so, Arruda had some details and corrections I had either forgotten or not thought about - I guess that's why they call them 'Professors' lol.
Call me a fan-girl, but it was also pretty cool to be training alongside some cool technical guys - Goioerê, Leo Arruda, Will Dias and Gustavo Falciroli (read about my visit to Gustavo's gym
here) all working the same sweeps!

No worries Vy! It was great to meet you, thanks for training with me. You are moving great and picking stuff up really quick considering you have only been training a couple of months. The notebook thing is definately a good idea!
